This program allows you to have a “pick of the litter puppy," or adolescent/adult breeding dog and help us preserve our genetics and become a guardian over the breed as part of our Skyefall family. This puppy/dog is part of your family and lives in your home, while the breeding rights are retained by Skyefall Kennels for a time of the dog’s life to preserve the best genetics in our program and offer options within our breeding program.

Once this dog has completed its breeding career, he/she will be spayed or neutered and your deposit refunded/option to keep a puppy. This dog will always remain a member of your family. This program allows for our dogs to live a normal, happy life in families where they get individual attention, at the same time allowing us to continue to build a superior breeding program!

You are responsible for routine veterinary care and wellness of the puppy. This means maintaining a vaccine schedule, grooming, monthly heartworm prevention (if recommended for your area), de-worming, training, regular exercise and socialization, foods, supplements, etc. The Guardian is responsible for any maintenance or needed medical care, just as would be expected of any other responsible pet owner.

Guardians are NOT responsible for any expenses related to breeding. Those are the sole responsibility of Skyefall Kennels.

The benefits of this programs are you get the very best that Skyefall Kennels has to offer. Breeding stock is chosen based on the best qualities that are outlined in our breed standard. Another wonderful benefit is that your dog will be completely health tested by us at no cost to you! You get to enjoy the excitement of being a part of our breeding program, and will see the offspring of your very own dog placed with families across the country - bringing others the same joy and happiness that you have experienced!

To be considered for the Guardian Program, we ask that you live within the Geelong/Melbourne region. It is necessary that you have physical fencing to provide a safe and secure environment for your puppy, own (or securely rent) your own home, and have a schedule that will allow your dog not be left alone for extended periods of time (working a full time jobs is understandable and allowable as long as your dog is a regularly scheduled priority upon your return).  Dogs should never be left outside in a kennel for long periods. You must have reliable transportation, and a willingness to bring your dog to us when needed for breeding purposes. We would also like regular check-ins to be kept up to date… The benefit of this, if you go away on a holiday your dog is welcome to come back to us at no cost for boarding! We would also love the opportunity to show your dog at dog shows if you would meet us prior to present the dog to their best ability.

The sex of our Guardian dogs will vary from litter to litter and isn’t predictable in most cases until 8 week evaluations.

When a female Guardian dog is in heat, you are encouraged to contact us immediately. At this time, we will need access to her for any necessary breeding related appointments. Once she has been bred, she will remain with you until one to two weeks before her due date. Your dog will come back to stay at Skyefall Kennels until the birth of her litter, and can return once her pups are fully weaned at approximately 6-8 weeks of age. Each dog is individually assessed before determining how many litters she will have. Most of our breeding dogs will have between 1-4 litters to preserve the genetics. The health and well being of our breeding dogs is a priority. Females are first bred at approximately 2 years of age, depending on genetic testing and cycles.

Once we receive all of the results from its health testing, we are then able to assess whether or not it will enter our breeding program. If for any reason we decide not to breed the puppy placed with you (this is a decision solely made by Skyefall Kennels) you will receive written permission to spay/neuter your companion.

At Skyefall Kennels our aim is to provide quality puppies and excellence of service to all our puppy families! We have done everything in our power to make our breeding program top notch in every way! We start with the best health tested breeding dogs that are Champions or Champion bred. We continue with top quality care, nutrition, socialisation, and love. We enjoy speaking with every interested puppy applicant to make sure our dogs and puppies go to great, active families! Each family has "tech support" for the life of every puppy! Our Guardian Program was put in place because we found that Skyefall puppies were in greater demand than we could possible supply, so the Guardian Program was developed.

If you are interested in being part of the Skyefall Kennels Guardian Program, we would love to chat with you!
